This fast-paced 3 days mid-range safari offers a complete northern circuit experience designed for travelers short on time. Departing from Arusha, you will spend your first day exploring the elephant-dense baobab forests and Silale Swamps of Tarangire National Park. On Day 2, you ascend into the Ngorongoro Highlands for a full 6-hour game drive on the crater floor tracking the Big Five, before resting in Karatu. The journey finishes on Day 3 with an engaging Arabica coffee farm walking tour and tasting session before returning to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).

Day 01 :

Arusha to Tarangire National Park (Elephant & Baobab Wonderland)

Driving Time / Distance: Approx. 2.5 hours (120 km) on paved and tarmac roads from Arusha.

Game Drive Duration: 5 to 6 hours.

Your expert Africa Alive Safaris guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha at 8:00 AM for a comprehensive safari briefing and equipment check. Depart southward across the scenic, acacia-dotted Maasai Steppe toward Tarangire National Park. Upon entering the park gates, lower your windows and immediately take in the striking landscape dominated by giant, gnarled baobab trees and umbrella acacias. Spend the morning tracking large breeding herds of elephants that congregate along the Tarangire River, the park's lifeblood during dry spells. Stop at a designated picnic site shaded by acacia trees to enjoy a hot lunch box while watching zebras, giraffes, and impalas graze nearby. Continue with an afternoon game drive exploring the Silale Swamps, where predators like lions and pythons frequently lie in wait, before exiting the park to check in at your lodge for a relaxing evening.

Day 02 :

Ngorongoro Crater Floor Exploration to Karatu

Driving Time / Distance: Approx. 2 hours from Tarangire/Mto wa Mbu to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Lodoare Gate.

Game Drive Duration: 5 to 6 hours inside the crater floor.

Wake up early at 6:00 AM for a steaming hot cup of Tanzanian coffee and a hearty breakfast. Depart lodge and drive upward through the misty, verdant Ngorongoro Highlands. Arrive at the Lodoare Gate and drive up to the crater rim viewpoint for breathtaking, panoramic photographs looking down into the massive 260-square-kilometer caldera. Descend down the steep, forested crater wall via a specialized descending road, emerging onto the open grass plains. Spend the morning hours tracking black rhinos in the open grasslands, observing massive bull elephants roaming the Lerai Forest, and marveling at pink flamingos clustering around the shallow waters of Lake Magadi. Pause for a picturesque picnic lunch near the hippo pool, watching massive hippopotamuses submerge and resurface. Ascend the crater wall in the mid-afternoon and drive down the outer slopes to your cozy country lodge in Karatu.

Day 03 :

Cultural Coffee Walk / Return Drive to Arusha

Driving Time / Distance: Approx. 3 hours (150 km) back to Arusha.

After a relaxed breakfast at 8:30 AM, step out for an engaging cultural and agricultural experience. Participate in a guided walking tour around a local Karatu coffee farm where you will learn the step-by-step process of how Tanzanian Arabica coffee is cultivated, hand-picked, pulped, roasted, and brewed—complete with a fresh tasting session. Depart Karatu by late morning, driving back along the Great Rift Valley escarpment toward Arusha town. Arrive by 2:00 PM for convenient drop-off at your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward evening flight home.
