Tarangire National Park

Welcome to the land of giants, where ancient baobab trees tower over a landscape carved by the life-giving Tarangire River. Located just a short drive south of Arusha, Tarangire National Park is celebrated for hosting some of the largest elephant herds in Africa—sometimes grouping in family units over 300 strong.

During the dry season, the river becomes the sole water source for miles around, drawing an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. Watch as elephant herds dig in dry riverbeds for underground streams, while migratory wildebeests, zebras, and rare fringe-eared oryx gather to drink under the watchful eyes of resident lion prides and tree-climbing pythons. Less crowded than its northern neighbors, Tarangire offers an intimate, untamed safari experience.
